The FIA has quietly abandoned the controversial rule mandating two pit stops at the Monaco Grand Prix, which was introduced in 2025 to encourage more strategic variety on the famously processional street circuit. Drivers and teams were largely critical of the forced stops, arguing they created artificial racing rather than genuine competition. The reversal comes after just one year and restores strategic freedom at Monaco, where overtaking remains extremely difficult.
